David practiced as a commercial Architect with Perkins + Will in Charlotte, NC from 2005-2018 working primarily in the Higher Education, Healthcare, and Transportation market sectors. Major projects led by David include the Concourse A North Expansion at Charlotte Douglas Airport, Moses Cone Hospital North Tower in Greensboro, NC , Watt Family Innovation Center at Clemson University, and the ECU Student Union in Greenville, NC.
In 2014, David and Laura purchased their first home to flip, the Bobby Lane House (see projects). The project took 10 months to complete due to David’s full time schedule while self-performing much of the work . This project became the cornerstone of Salt + Light Properties, founded in 2015 and now Salt + Light Builders. David and Laura continue to flip homes through current day under Salt + Light Properties.
David founded Salt+Light Architecture in 2017 to begin to commission his own design projects. David’s passion for both design and building led him to leave his full time job in 2018 to grow his real estate, architecture and construction businesses. Salt + Light Architecture became a full time operation in the fall of 2018 with a goal to provide the Charlotte with carefully and beautifully designed projects with superior craftsmanship.
